Erie - Organizers of the Roar on the Shore™ bike rally, set for July 17 - 20 at Perry Square in the heart of downtown Erie, are pleased to announce another addition to the quickly growing list of celebrities scheduled to appear at the event.
Dee Snider, best known as the lead singer of the metal band Twisted Sister, will help kick off the rally on Thursday, July 17, at the Bringin' in the Roar bike parade. The parade will depart Presque Isle Downs & Casino at 5 p.m. and arrive at what is being called "The Hub" in Perry Square at approximately 6 p.m. Snider will ride alongside fellow Co-Grand Marshal "Miami Ink" Star Ami James. Snider is scheduled to participate in a photo and autograph session with the public after arriving in downtown Erie. Donations of $5 will be accepted on behalf of the Roar's official charity for 2008, Shriners Hospitals for Children - Erie.
Twisted Sister, one of the top metal bands in 1980s, had a string of hits, including "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock." In addition to his work with Twisted Sister, Snider is also known as an actor, writer and radio personality, hosting the "House of Hair with Dee Snider" on 200 radio stations nationwide.
Snider's appearance is sponsored by Howard Industries, a Fairview-based manufacturer of exterior architectural signs and custom sign systems. "We are happy to lend a hand with this rally," said Howard Industries CEO Gary Schneider. "The Shriners Hospitals is a wonderful charity and bringing in Dee Snider will only draw a bigger crowd to downtown Erie, which will translate into even more money for the Shriners."
