Roar on the Shore™ Escorted/Scenic Ride Details Announced
This year's Roar on the Shore™ offers three spectacular rides to show off Erie's beautiful lakefront community and to benefit the Erie Shriners Hospitals for Children.
THURSDAY, JULY 17: Official Roar on the Shore™ Parade
- BRINGIN' IN THE ROAR BIKE PARADE: Kicking off the rally - "easy rider" style - will be PETER FONDA leading the official Bringin' in the Roar bike parade through the streets of downtown Erie.
Hosted by Presque Isle Downs and Casino , the gathering will begin at 2 p.m. with live music, food and cold beverages. Parade departs at 5 p.m. Cost is $5 per bike with all proceeds benefiting the Erie Shriners Hospitals for Children!

FRIDAY, JULY 18: Official Roar on the Shore™ Escorted Ride
- THUNDER ON THE ISLE: THE MAYOR'S RIDE: Join Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott for an escorted ride around Erie's famous Presque Isle shoreline. Hosted by Harley-Davidson of Erie , riders will enjoy live music, food and cold beverages starting at noon. Ride departs at 3 p.m. Cost is $5 per bike with all proceeds benefiting the Erie Shriners Hospitals for Children.

SATURDAY, JULY 19: Official Roar on the Shore™ Poker Run
- ROAR TO THE VINEYARDS: This popular "poker run" takes you on a journey through the vineyards along the Lake Erie's shoreline for a visit to seven of North East Pennsylvania's award-winning wineries! Cash prize/gift certificate valued at $100 for Roar on the Shore merchandise awarded to the winning hand.
Poker run begins at Dobbins Landing in Erie sponsored by Roth Cadillac. Cost is $5 per person with all proceeds benefiting the Erie Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Yellow Perch Tour Show or Hide Details
Approximately 4 hours
Begin at Presque Isle State Park, Route 832 & Route
5A

Ride north to circle the park on its loop-like road. Leave
Presque Isle turn right (west) on West 6th St.
-
Immediately merge onto West Lake Road (Route 5A).
-
Ride west on 5A, turn right (west) onto Route 5 at Airport.
-
Ride west on Route 5. Just past route 98 take a break Mason Farms fresh
produce roadside stand.
-
Merge right (west) onto Route 20 in Springfield.
-
Ride Route 20 into Ohio about 1.5 miles to the White Turkey Drive-in for a
bite to eat.
-
Backtrack on Route 20 east to Route 6N.
-
Turn right onto Route 6N and ride south east to Edinboro. Just east of I-79
turn left onto Fry Road and visit the Wooden Nickel Buffalo Farm for some tasty
buffalo jerky.

Continue east on 6N and stop at Jeff’s Village Inn in Mill Village for a cold
one.

Continue east on 6N through Union City and turn left (north) onto Route 89.
Ride north to Route 430.

Turn left (west) onto Route 430. Past I-90 and Route 430 the Bayfront
Connector begins. Stay on the Bayfront Connector through east Erie as it changes
into the Bayfront Parkway.

Turn right at Holland Street and immediately left on Front Street. Visit the
Maritime Museum and find out who said “Don’t Give up the Ship!”

Return to Bayfront Parkway and continue west to West 8th Street. Turn right
(west) onto West 8th Street. Ride west on West 8th Street to Route 832/Peninsula Drive.

Turn right onto Route 832 (north) and ride to Presque Isle State Park. Borrow
a fishing pole at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center (TREC) and catch a Lake
Erie yellow perch – delicious!
Blue Heron Tour Show or Hide Details

Ride north to circle Presque Isle on its loop-like road. With a
little luck, you may spot a Blue Heron or one of the more than 325 species
of birds recorded at Presque Isle.

Leave Presque Isle turn right (west) on West 6th St.

Immediately merge onto West Lake Road (Route 5A) also called the Seaway
Trail, a National Scenic Byway.

Ride west on 5A, turn right (west) onto Route 5 at Airport.

Ride west on Route 5, turn right (west) onto Route 20 in Springfield.
-
Ride Route 20 into Ohio about 1.5 miles to the White Turkey Drive-in
Restaurant.

Backtrack slightly on Route 20 east to Route 6N. Turn right onto
Pennsylvania’s Historic Route 6N.

Ride south east on Route 6N to Route 18 at Albion.

Turn right (south) onto Route 18.
-
Ride south on Route 18 to Harmonsburg. Turn right (west) onto Harmonsburg
Road.

Ride west on Harmonsburg Road merging right (west) onto Route 6.

Ride west on Route 6 to Linesville and visit Pymatuning Spillway where
ducks walk on the fish.

Backtrack east on Route 6 (through Conneaut Lake, Meadville, Seagertown).
Route 6 and Route 19 is same route near I-79 and north. Check out the
Allegheny College/ PennDOT outdoor sign art along Route 6 just east of I-79.

Stay on Route 19 north to historic Waterford. See the only statue of
George Washington in a British uniform next to the historic Eagle Hotel.

Veer right at Route 97 north after Waterford and ride to Erie.
-
North of I-90 stay left onto Route 505 (Glenwood Park Ave.) north towards
Erie Zoo and visit Erie’s wild side.

Ride north on 505/Glenwood Park Ave. to State Street (intersection at
Route 20/ 26th St.) where Route 505 ends. Turn left onto State Street.

Ride north on State Street through downtown Erie to Dobbins Landing. Two
interpretive panels on Dobbins Landing talk about Erie’s past maritime
shipping industry and Presque Isle Bay’s unique fishing port history.

Ride the elevator up the 187 foot Bicentennial Tower for great panoramic
views of Presque Isle Bay, Lake Erie and the downtown area.

Ride south on State Street, turn right (west) onto Bayfront Parkway to
West 8th St.

Turn right (west) onto West 8th Street and Ride to Route 832/Peninsula
Drive.

Turn right (north) onto Rt. 832 to Presque Isle State Park.
Concord Grape Tour Show or Hide Details

Visit the Tom Ridge Environmental Center (TREC) and
find out how Presque Isle was formed.

Ride north to circle Presque Isle State Park, also part of
the Seaway Trail, a National Scenic Byway. Leave Presque Isle turn left
(east) on West 8thth St. to Bayfront Parkway.

Turn left (north) on the Bayfront Parkway. Stay on the
Bayfront Parkway, through State Street to East 6th St./Route 5A.
-
Turn left (east) onto East 6th St./ Route 5A. Visit the Land
Lighthouse on Lighthouse Street. Continue on Route 5A that turns into Route
5 east of Erie.
-
Ride east on Route 5 to Route 89 near North East. Turn left
to visit Freeport Beach and read the interpretive panel telling “Why Grapes
Grow Here”, especially the Concord.

For wine tasting and tours stop at Penn Shore or Mazza
Vineyards on Routes 5 or on Route 20 at Arrowhead Wine Cellars, Presque Isle
Wine Cellars, Heritage Wineries or Quincy Cellars.

Return to Rt. 89 and ride south to Route 6.

Turn left (east) onto Route 6 to Route 426/North Center
Street at Corry.

Turn right (south) onto North Center Street to downtown
Corry and see the mural of the Climax Engine. Stop at the Library Bar &
Grill for a bite to eat.

Backtrack north on North Center Street to Route 6, turn left
(west) on Route 6. (or exit downtown Corry turning west onto West Smith
Street. Turn left onto Route 6).Catch Pennsylvania’s oldest fish hatchery on
Route 6 just west of West Smith Street.

Continue west on Route 6. Turn right (north) on Route 19,
rest your engines at Creekside Bar & Grille.

Return to Route 6 riding west to Edinboro. Visit the Goodell
Gardens & Homestead with beautiful seasonal flower displays.

Ride past I-79 to Route 98.
-
Turn right (north) onto Route 98 to Route 5.
-
Turn right (east) onto Route 5 to Route 5A, veer left onto
Route 5A at airport.

Ride on Route 5A to Route 832 (Peninsula Drive).
-
Turn left onto Route 832 to Presque Isle State Park.
